A Modern Home
in Sync with Nature
An Exclusive Neighborhood in Biltmore Forest, NC
Nestled near the heart of The Ramble neighborhood in Biltmore Forest, North Carolina, a contemporary home stands as a testament to the seamless integration of modern design and natural surroundings. Recently completed, this home, designed by Vellum Architecture and Design and constructed by Buchannan Builders, epitomizes architectural innovation and sustainability.
From the project's inception, Mark Rudolf, Principal at Vellum, sought natural, authentic materials that would harmonize with the wooded environment surrounding the home. The exterior features Americana™ thermally modified poplar siding, chosen for its warm, soft texture complementing the crisp and clean modern volumes of the structure. Rudolf appreciated Americana's™ sourcing from Pennsylvania hardwoods, aligning with the project's sustainability ethos. He noted, "The choice of Americana™ not only enhances the aesthetics of the home but also aligns with the practical preferences of the residents."
Rudolf commended Americana's™ collaborative approach, stating, "The staff at Americana™ swiftly addressed any challenges during construction, offering solutions, providing samples, and assisting in specifying the appropriate products, facilitating smooth project design and completion."
In summary, Rudolf described the project, "The house itself consists of crisp, clean, modern volumes. We chose Americana™ thermally modified poplar as a soft, warm cladding material to connect the house with its natural surroundings. Balancing the design with the surrounding nature and landscape, the primary exterior materials are brick and Americana siding."
