Anna C. Verna Playground
at FDR Park

Since its opening in October 2023, the Anna C. Verna Playground at FDR Park has quickly become one of Philadelphia's most popular and innovative play spaces. Designed to encourage creative play for both children and adults, the playground integrates natural materials in place of the typical plastic structures found in many parks.

At the heart of the design are striking features like slides wrapped around full trees and climbing structures crafted from debarked tree trunks. Adding both beauty and functionality, the playground's benches—constructed from thermally modified Oak by Sitecraft—complement the organic aesthetic. These benches, with their elegantly curved narrow slats, are sourced from the forests of Pennsylvania and crafted from Americana® Thermally Modified Hardwood.
