Premium American Hardwood for NHLA’s Headquarters
Memphis, TN — Sourcing fine domestic hardwood to connect the NHLA headquarters and education center.
The National Hardwood Lumber Association (NHLA) decided it was time to replace the breezeway connecting their headquarters to the industry education center. The original pine substructure did not reflect the natural beauty and integrity that the organization represents.
The Collaboration
“We were looking to domestically source a hardwood material that was not only natural and chemical-free, but something that could withstand the outside elements,” said Renee Hornsby, NHLA’s Director of Marketing. Having seen the success of Thermally Modified Wood (TMW) in Europe, the NHLA reached out to Bingaman & Son Lumber to secure Americana™ Thermally Modified Pennsylvania Oak.
Despite delays from the pandemic, 1,500 sq ft of decking arrived on site and was installed by JJ Deluca Construction. The final result is finished with a Cutek™ pigment to maintain the wood’s rich chocolate-brown color against the Memphis heat and humidity.
